
The Deep Impact spacecraft will soon be making a close approach of the comet Hartley 2.Next week the spacecraft will be getting within 435 miles of the comet and using its onboard instruments to examine and record as many details as possible. Five years ago, Deep Impact created cosmic fireworks when it released a probe into comet Tempel 1.
The resulting collision gave scientists their first glimpse of a comet"s interior.
