
Hitler may have stayed with his half-brother in Liverpool for several months between 1912 and 1913.In his new book "The Hitlers of Liverpool" Mike Unger details his findings that suggest a young Adolf Hitler travelled to England in order to avoid national service. Hitler was said to have enjoyed sightseeing and bribed his way in to the engine room of Tower Bridge so that he could see howit worked.
The house he stayed in was later destroyed by German Luftwaffe bombers during World War II. Adolf Hitler spent five months in Liverpool, wandering around the city and relaxing in the Poste House pub, pint in hand. He also enjoyed a sightseeing tour of London and was so fascinated by Tower Bridge that he bribed his way into the engine room so he could see the machinery at work.
