Haunted tudor mansion for sale in Merseyside

It's one of the most imposing and prestigious addresses in Merseyside, but if you want to live there you will have to share it with a ghost. The search is on for a house manager at Speke Hall, the famous 20-roomed Tudor mansion.And the National Trust, which oversees the estate, is convinced that there will be no shortage of people willing to take up the position of tenant.However, while the organisation, which acts as custodian to the Grade I-listed property makes no mention of its haunted past, the job descriptiondoes give a slight hint of what to expect.In the advert for the post, it states that applicants must be: "Willing to live alone in the house."Speke Hall's other resident is said to be Mary Norris, an unfriendly ghost who has reportedly been seen walking its corridors by night.The woman, who killed herself around 1755 after apparently throwing her baby into the moat, has been spotted gliding into the hall before disappearing into the floorboards.And, rumour says, the heavy oak cradle in the Oak Bedroom has been known to rock, as if pushed by an invisible hand."Obviously, if you're prone to worrying about bumps inthe night it might not be the place for you," says Liverpool properties manager Simon Osbourne."But we've had plenty of applicants from people who already work for the Trust and those who aspire to work for it."
