The European Space Agency's chief scientist has said there should be a "Noah's Ark" on the Moon, in case life on Earth is wiped out by an asteroid or nuclear holocaustSpeaking exclusively to BBC News at the British Association Festival of Science, Dr Bernard Foing said the ark should be a repository for the DNA of every single species of plant and animal. Dr Foing is head of Europe's Moon missions, so his thoughts on matters lunar should be takenseriously.
He is concerned that if the Earth were destroyed, there would be little or nothing left of the rich diversity of life on the planet. His solution is to build a DNA library on Earth's satellite. "If there were a catastrophic collision on Earth or a nuclear war, you could place some samples of Earth's biosphere, including humans, [on the Moon]," he said. "You could repopulate the Earth afterwards, like a Noah's Ark," he said. For the time being though, Dr Foing is awaiting the arrival of Europe's first probe to the Moon. The Smart 1mission is due to arrive ahead of schedule in November. The spacecraft is testing a range of innovative technologies that should find their way on to many future European Space Agency probes. It is the first of what he hopes will be a fleet of robotic spacecraft sent to the Moon. They would be used to build a lunar colony.

A lead on the Ark of the CovenantSubmitted by Da Verminator: When last we saw the lost Ark of the Covenant in action, it had been dug up by Indiana Jones in Egypt and ark-napped by Nazis, whom the Ark proceeded to incinerate amidst a tempest of terrifying apparitions. But according to Tudor Parfitt, a real life scholar-adventurer, Raiders of the Lost Ark had it wrong, and the Ark is actually nowhere near Egypt. In fact, Parfitt claims he has traced it (or a replacement container for the original Ark), to a dusty bottom shelf in... Is recent Noahs Ark claim a hoax ?A former member of the expedition who recently claimed to have found Noah"s Ark in Turkey has stated that it was a hoax.Randall Price has claimed that in 2008 the wooden beams and planks from an old structure by the Black Sea were transported up to Mount Ararat in Turkey by Kurdish laborers. Further doubt has been cast by the presence of cobwebs in the corners of awooden compartment photographed at the site of the alleged discovery. Did Jesus really Die on a “Cross” ?Though the Bible does not specifically describe the instrument that Jesus died upon, tradition has it that he was put to death on a cross; consisting of a stake and a crossbeam. The Greek stauros is sometimes used to describe a simple stake, and other times a more complex form such as the cross. To determine what appearance the stauros took in Jesus' death, we need to consider what the Greek language tells us, what history tells us, and most importantly, what the Bible tells us. ... Virgin Births throughout World MythologyUntil the twelfth century, Christians took it for granted that Mary was conceived in original sin. Pope Gregory the Great said emphatically: ‘Christ alone was conceived without sin.’ Again and again, he said all human beings are sinful, even the holiest, with the sole exception of Christ. On the eighth day of December 1854, Pope Pius IX, the first infallible Pope defined the immaculate conception of the Virgin Mary in Ineffabilis Deus: We declare, pronounce and define that the doct...
