This is the second in a special series of Raiders News Network interviews focusing on the 60th Anniversary of the 1947 Roswell, New Mexico UFO Incident. Tom Horn is joined by Col. Jesse Marcel Jr., whose highly anticipated new book "The Roswell Legacy," is being released at the Roswell Festival this year. Col. Marcel's book claims that the famous UFO event near the city actually occurred, including the recovery of an extraterrestrial craft. Col. Marcel's father, Maj. Jesse Marcel Sr. was the lead military investigator into the crash of 1947 and is finally vindicated according to this book. Horn: Col. Marcel, it is so good to speak with you again. Thank you for taking time to talk to usabout Roswell and your new book.

You will be speaking and on some panels at Roswell this year. One question or correction. I note in the past we had the title of your book as "Roswell: It Really Happened", but I see it advertised elsewhere now as "The Roswell Legacy". Has the book title been changed? Marcel: The book has evolved with time. As I was writing it, I realized that Legacy was more appropriate than what really happened. The title of the book is "The Roswell Legacy." Horn: This is the 60th anniversary. Does it feel that long ago to you? Marcel: It is hard to believe that 60 years have passed on the calendar. It seems like yesterday to me to use a cliché'.Horn: As the only man alive who the government admits handled material from the debris field in 1947, material your dadlet you and your mother see as he stopped off at home on his way back to the base, how did that night effect you. It changed the course of UFOlogy and put Roswell and your family on the map.Marcel: It was then that I realized that our civilization was not alone certainly in the galaxy and that we were in fact being visited by others more advanced because they could get here from where ever they come from. I took it to mean that we were being studied from a scientifically curious race just as we would be curious about other life forms on our planet.

Marcel Jr. was one of the last surviving witnesses to the debris recovered during the Roswell incident. Dr Jesse Marcel was the son of Major Jesse Marcel whose involvement in the recovery of debris from the Roswell UFO crash in 1947 had made him a household name. First on the scene following the incident,Marcel Sr.

famously appeared in a series of photographs taken of the debris strewn out on the floor, materials that the United States military would later claim to be the remains of a weather balloon experiment.Following the retrieval of the debris, his father allowed him to have a look at the strange materials which included beams marked with undecipherable symbols and a mysterious type of metal that would spring back in to shape when bent. Despite the level of controversy surrounding these events Marcel stood firm to his words and never changed his story, a fact that many in the field see as a testimony to his sincerityand dedication to the truth.Jessie Marcel Jr. was himself a keen disclosure advocate and made several public appearances to tell his side of the story including the recent Citizen"s Hearing on Disclosure. He also wrote a book on his experiences called "The Roswell Legacy" which detailed the events as he recalled them.Dr Marcel died of a suspected heart attack at his home at the age of 77.

The base photographers stationed at Roswell during the UFO incident have spoken out about their experiences.Military photographers stationed at Roswell Air Force Base in 1947, now in their 80s, have provided new details of what happened at the time of the infamous UFO crash. According to their testimonies, Commander Butch Blanchard and his superiors had decided it best to call in photographers from outside the base to take pictures of the evidence because having too manyof their own personnel involved was deemed to be a security risk. The commander of the photo unit was therefore summarily relieved of his duties and transferred elsewhere.

In his place a group of men from Washington DC was flown in to photograph the debris along with several retired military personnel with Top Secret clearance. Of those photographers interviewed, none of them believed that the incident had anything to do with a crashed weather balloon and all of them were adamant that a coverup had taken place. "Roswell Army Air Field base photographers who were stationed there at the time of the UFO crash over six decades ago have recently been located and contacted."

Today marks precisely 66 years since the infamous UFO crash took place at Roswell, New Mexico. For years the incident has been hailed as one of the most important events in Ufology and is often regarded as one of the earliest alleged examples of the US government covering up evidence of extraterrestrial visitation. Press reports at the time described how a "flying disk" had crash-landed in the area and that debris and bodies had been recovered from the site.Despite a variety of witnesstestimonies the exact nature of what happened that day remains unclear.

Officially, the object that crashed was a "weather balloon" and the alien bodies were "crash-test dummies". Unofficially, the stories from servicemen who were sworn to secrecy for decades suggests that the incident was anything but that.Whether the actual series of events that took place in Roswell that day will ever be fully revealed, however, remains to be seen. "Conspiracy theorists have claimed that US military had captured a crashed alien aircraftoutside Roswell in July 1947, but authorities insisted that the incident merely involved the recovery of debris from a top secret surveillance balloon."
