Mediums and psychics have been around for a long time. Yes, even longer than Sylvia Browne's fossilized nails, which I know is hard to believe. As I sat in my office, I found myself reflecting on some of the psychic greats throughout history: Edgar Cayce, Nostradamus, and most likely a few old hags who lived in caves. As a side note, I am pretty sure the universe knew what it was doing when it sent me to a 21st century middle class neighborhood instead of to some dingy cave decorated by crude rust colored paintings of wolves and other beasts I hope to never encounter. It's not that I couldn't survive in the wild, it's that I don't want to. Alright, that was a lie, I couldn't survive in the wild. As I thought about the different psychics and mediums throughout history I couldn't help but wonder, "What is the difference between the psychics of old and the mediums of lately?" Wardrobe differences aside, it must have been a tough being a psychic or a medium throughout much of history. It's not like Medium or Ghost Whisperer were available on demand during the crusades. Professing to foresee the future, or mentioning that you'd seen a ghost, wasn't just something to be avoided in polite company, it was a choice that could cost you your life. It makes me wonder how many great psychics and mediums existed, but were unable to share their gifts with others because of societal persecution. It saddens me, because I get so much joy from being able to share my gift with others. When I am depressed or feeling isolated because of my intuitive rarity, the knowledge that I am able to make people's lives better provides me with much needed comfort. How many children were shushed into silence by fearful parents or condemned to penance by hateful preachers? It wasn't all that long ago in America that people were institutionalized for being psychic. It's amazing how far we've come even in a few short years. We've gone from throwing people into mental wards to watching psychics and mediums engage in hotly contested debates on split screen on Larry King. Can you imagine Nostradamus debating James Randi on Larry King? I doubt Randi would even be surprised that Nostradamus was still.

The King James Bible Code

Copyright 1999 © Michael W. HoggardBiblebelievers.com What the King James Code is NOT: The King James Code does not have anything to do with equidistant letter sequences. Much debate centers around ELS because of its controversial, and sometimes rather subjective nature. Some feel that, even though, there may well be letter sequences in the Hebrew scriptures, there meanings and interpretations are most often obscure. The King James Code is not a private, secret language that on...

The King James Bible Code (Part II)

Copyright 1999 © Michael W. HoggardBiblebelievers.com The Number Twelve: Although I am very aware of the importance the number 12 plays in the scriptures, I do not have as yet very much to report as far as the codes are concerned. Remember, all of this information that you see before you, has been the process of revelation, and not education. The Lord would tap me on the shoulder and tell me what to look for. I do, however, have a few, very important codes to share that invo...

Decoding Destiny With the I Ching

How to use this ancient Chinese divination tool to glimpse the future--and to better understand where you are right now. Who wouldn't like to know what tomorrow holds? Every ancient culture, it seems, has devised methods to foretell the future. Europeans had their tarot cards, Native Americans had their cowrie shells, Japanese looked into tea leaves and the Chinese depended on the I Ching or the Book of Changes. I was exposed to The I Ching as a young girl and remember being shoc...

Psychics see big trouble over new laws

Fortune-tellers, mediums and spiritual healers marched on Downing Street on Friday to protest against new laws they fear will lead to them being "persecuted and prosecuted". Organisers say that replacing the Fraudulent Mediums Act of 1951 with new consumer protection rules will remove key legal protection for "genuine" mediums. They think sceptics might bring malicious prosecutions to force spiritualists to prove in court that they can heal people, see into the future...

Birth Date can affect personality

Copyright © smh.com.auAstrology may usually be dismissed as harmless superstition, but scientists are discovering that the date we are born can affect our later lives. Research has revealed the time of year a person is born can influence his or her personality, health and even whether they are male or female. But rather than being written in the stars, studies are showing that it is the season of birth that predisposes individuals to different traits. In the northern hemisphere, wome...

The Four Elements of Tarot

Copyright © Journal and Courier"I don't like using angel cards all that much because I don't want to keep bugging angels," said Ivy Jennings in her Lafayette home. Jennings considers herself to be an empath, a person who is sensitive to feelings and vibrations given out by the living or dead."I'll use them on certain occasions to kind of give me an idea of what the heart is looking for and what the soul is needing and how can we get those in harmony," Jennings sa...
