THE LOST PACIFIC CONTINENT OF LEMURIA is a place that history has nearly forgotten. Yet it survives in the mythology of Hindus and Australian aborigines, Polynesians and Native Americans. Its place is likewise secure among occult pioneers Madame Blavatsky and Edgar Cayce, as well as many New Age channelers and mediums. But did Lemuria really exist? And if so, when and where was it located? Given the amount of time elapsed - many centuries before the first Egyptian pyramids - there is scant archaeological evidence. Even the myths and creation stories from the Pacific area are the faintest of glimmers. Yet enough has surfaced to make a case for Lemuria, even though most geologists vehemently deny its existence. But geologists have been wrong before.

Where was it? Theories abound about the exact location of Lemuria (also called Mu, Pacifica, etc.) The consensus favors Polynesia, somewhere between the Hawaiian chain and Easter Island far to the south. However, H.P. Blavatsky, the founder of Theosophy, placed her "Third Continent of the Third Root Race" in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Malaysia (in her book The Secret Doctrine). Surprisingly, many scientists of her day concurred and even came up with the name, derived from lemur, the ghostlike primates who supposedly lived there. (It's interesting that the Indian government is currently searching coastal waters off Kanyakumari for ruins of a lost civilization.) The myths and traditions of India abound with references. The Rig Veda in particular speaks of "the three continents that were"; the third was home to a race called the Danavas. A land called Rutas was an immense continent far to the east of India and home to a race of sun-worshippers. But Rutas was torn asunder by a volcanic upheaval and sent to the ocean depths. Fragments remained as Indonesia and the Pacific islands, and a few survivors reached India, where they became the elite Brahman caste.

The Austrian mystic Rudolf Steiner claimed that during the sixth and seventh subraces (of the Third Root Race) colonies were established as far away as Easter Island. The continent girdled much of the Pacific near the Equator, and thousands of island peaks remain to mark its former glory. Edgar Cayce made a distinction between Mu, which floated off the coast of Baja California, and Lemuria, whose location is confusing to say the least. According to Cayce: "The Andean, or the Pacific coast of South America, occupied then the extreme western portion of Lemuria." Either he meant eastern or Earth"s land masses have changed a lot, perhaps due to a pole shift or crustal slippage. The channeled entity Seth spoke of a civilization called Lumania on the island of Maskara, whose mountain peaks today form Indonesia...

In 1966 near the little town of Ica in the Peruvian mountains the town physician Dr. Cabrera found thousands of stones etched with images and many of them showed humans and dinosaurs living together. In 1944 near the town of Acambaro in Mexico the German businessman/anthropologist Waldemar Jusrud uncovered thousands of clay and stone figurines and many of them showed humans interacting with dinosaurs. These finds got instant attention in the media and with evolutionary scientists because they show something thought impossible: humans and dinosaurs living together.

It is commonly assumed that dinosaurs got extinct 67 million years ago when a cosmic bomb devastated this planet's surface and changed its climate so drastically that it did not support dinosaur life any longer. Humans appeared on the fossil record millions of years later. To establish a link between these two species does not seem possible. Could this assumption be wrong?

It has been established beyond the shadow of a doubt that the great dinosaur extinction took place. It is also very clear that humans appeared many millions of years later. Therefore, scientists either prefer not to touch this topic or conclude that these mute witnesses of co-existence between humans and dinosaurs are fakes. The proponents of co-existence convincingly show that these artifacts cannot be fakes. The result is a stand off that has not been solved up to now. The mystery is deepened by the fact that some stones at Ica show this planet's surface with a distribution of the continents as it was approximately 13 million years ago. Moreover, Dr. Cabrera found human remains next to plant specimens as they existed during the Mesozoic age, which ended with the demise of the dinosaurs.

Many stones at Ica show surgeries of the brain, heart transplants, caesarians deliveries and many more medical procedures. The pictures show a degree of sophistication present medicine just now has achieved. There are clear indications that rejection of transplants was known and measures were taken to avoid that. Acupuncture was used for anesthesia and treatment. At Acambaro many human figurines show racial features as they are found all over the planet. There are many figurines with a huge variety of dinosaurs and some of them are unknown to us. Most remarkably, the dinosaurs are shown anatomically correct. Some of them show features science discovered only a short while ago, many years after the figurines were unearthed.

The stones of Ica and the figurines of Acambaro present a mystery that cannot be solved by science. It is not conceivable that science is mistaken so badly as to have overlooked a contemporary existence of humans and dinosaurs. An explanation outside of conventional wisdom and knowledge can be the only solution to this mystery. There is another species of which is commonly assumed that it never existed because the gods of antiquity are not around any more in physical form. 5500 years ago humans were hunter-gatherers or simple farmers living in very small villages. Suddenly, 5 centers of civilization appeared: Egypt, Sumeria, Japan, Peru and the Indus Valley Civilization.

From the very beginning religion was of highest importance. Gods and deities demanded total subservience from humans and in Egypt this went as far as calling humans the cattle of the gods. Besides religion political systems were implemented to control the growing human population. Civilization experienced a very rapid expansion and within less than a thousand years was well established all over the planet...

In recent years archaeologists have increasingly found more and more evidence of the possibility of a Matriarchal age in the past. Yet we do not hear about this in either the mainstream media or in the alternative press. Yet if what is being discovered now is true, we will have to re-write ancient history and rethink what is the true nature of human beings. Because what archaeologists are now discovering suggests that in the stone age we were not the savage brutes as portrayed in academic speculation. But we were in fact peace loving people who worshiped a ancient deity called the Great Mother. Recent archaeological evidence shows that the history of war and violence only began long after civilization got started.

The concept that women once ruled the world in ancient times is nothing new. It got started by a scholar called J. J. Bachofen1 in the 19th century. He brought together all the evidence of matriarchy in ancient times then available. He was strongly criticized for this by other scholars who dismissed and discredited his work. Yet in spite of this, his work was to inspire the scholars James Frazer to write his famous book, "The Golden Bough". It also influenced Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels who publicly praised Bachofen's work. As well as the famous psychologist Carl Jung who developed from it the theory that the ancient Great Mother was a very important archetype in the collective unconscious2. In spite of the condemnation of Bachofen the controversy wouldn't go away. Other scholars in the early 20th century also wrote about matriarchy like Robert Briffault3, Jane Harrison4 and Dr Margaret Murray5. But this argument was kept very much within academic circles. Then in the 1940s the poet Robert Graves wrote his book, "The White Goddess" which was the first attempt to bring this argument to the general public, even though it was a very complex book. Then on the wave of the feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s feminist scholars like Merlin Stone6 and Barbara G. Walker7 also continued to dig deep into ancient history to find more evidence of matriarchy in ancient times.

After the second world war archaeologists started to make finds that was also supporting the idea that there was a matriarchal age in the past. This evidence was again dismissed by academics but feminist writers like Elizabeth Gould Davis8 who was brave enough to directly claim that women did once rule the world. And Riane Eisler9 who kept strictly to feminist dogma and claimed that in the matriarchal age the sexes were equal. But the biggest change in recent years is of archaeological evidence that supports the ancient Golden Age myth...

Space images taken by NASA reveal a mysterious ancient bridge in the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka. The recently discovered bridge currently named as Adam?s Bridge is made of chain of shoals, c.18 mi (30 km) long. The bridge's unique curvature and composition by age reveals that it is man made.

The legends as well as Archaeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in Sri Lanka date back to the a primitive age, about 1,750,000 years ago and the bridge's age is also almost equivalent.

This information is a crucial aspect for an insight into the mysterious legend called Ramayana, which was supposed to have taken place in tredha yuga (more than 1,700,000 years ago). In this epic, there is a mentioning about a bridge, which was built between Rameshwaram (India) and Srilankan coast under the supervision of a dynamic and invincible figure called Rama who is supposed to be the incarnation of the supreme. This information may not be of much importance to the archeologists who are interested in exploring the origins of man, but it is sure to open the spiritual gates of the people of the world to have come to know an ancient history linked to the Indian mythology.
