A security worker has taken a photograph of a possible apparition in an old house in southern Romania. I approached the window and then I saw a tall feminine shape that seemed wreathed in a white veil. My first reaction was to get back and run away as fast as I can!”

A new study in to sounds attributed to poltergeist activity has revealed startling differences to conventional sounds. Paranormal rappings associated with apparent poltergeist activity have been described for many hundreds of years. It is only now that an interesting pattern has been discovered within the finedetail of the paranormal rapping sounds.

No explanation can be found for this pattern at present. Whereas raps and knocking sounds produced by ordinary means exhibit a normal acoustic pattern, those recorded in alleged poltergeist cases show quite a different sound signature.

New research in to the acoustics of paranormal sounds may prove that they are neither natural nor human in origin.Conducted by Dr. Barrie Colvin the research is to be published in the respected Journal of the Society for Psychical Research. He found that the properties of sounds thought to be of paranormal origin such as raps, bumps and other noises are fundametally different in their acoustic properties to the type of sounds we otherwise encounter in ourdaily lives.

These startling conclusions have been drawn by Dr Barrie Colvin, a scientist who has spent the past five years analysing the knocks, raps and bangs produced by poltergeists. Dr Colvin used some of the most advanced acoustic technology available to ‘fingerprint’ the ghostly sounds. He has discovered that they are fundamentally different to the normal sounds produced by people, animals, or indeed anything in our physical world. They are, for thewant of a better term, ‘ghostly’.

A 70-year-old radio at a Scottish heritage centre has been picking up vintage broadcasts featuring Winston Churchill and the music of Glen Miller. The Pye valve wireless at Montrose Air Station, a heritage centre that tells the story of the men and women who served there, has no power and is not connected to any source of electricity. he aerodrome has been a source of paranormal sightings and sounds for almost a century, with reports of ghostly figures, eerie footsteps and door handles turning, but the mysterious wireless broadcasts have had even the most sceptical staff at the station searching for a rational explanation. The vintage radio set is kept in a recreation of a 940s room. Several people have heard Second World War era broadcasts including the big band sound of the Glenn Miller orchestra and speeches by Winston Churchill. The broadcasts come on at random and can last for up to half an hour.
