An infra-red satellite survey of Egypt has uncovered over 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements. The satellite cameras are so powerful that they can pick up objects smaller than 1m on the surface. The newly discovered pyramids have created quite a buzz in archaeological circles. "To excavate apyramid is the dream of every archaeologist," says Dr Sarah Parcak.
Seventeen lost pyramids are among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt. More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings.

Author Arthur Carmazzi contends that good leadership skills as oppose to slavery built the Pyramids. For years the idea that the people who built the Pyramids of Egypt were slaves has been a part of many construction theories. "Various researches have already shown that the labourers were not slaves. It was more about getting work done through leadership skills, rather than byslavery and exploitation," Carmazzi has said.
It was the leadership skills of the rulers and not the bondage of slavery that motivated the labourers to toil hard in building the ancient Egyptian pyramids, claims a top leadership guru. Indonesia-based Arthur Carmazzi will soon come out with a book arguing how the leadership skills of the rulers of Egypt were responsible for buildingthe giant structures regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

A staggering eight million mummified dogs have been unearthed beneath the Egyptian desert. The dogs were found packed in to a labyrinth of tunnels, some were laid to rest after they had died while others are thought to have been sacrificed to the gods when merely a few hours old. A labyrinth of sacred tunnels packed with the mummified remains of millions of dogs has been excavated under the Egyptian desert. The catacombs are estimated to contain the remains up to eight million dogs, many of which would have been offered to the gods when they were just hours old. Others would have been treated as living representatives of the dog or jackal-headed god Anubis and would have lived out their lives in the nearby temple before being preserved and laid to rest in the network of tunnels. The fascinating details come from Cardiff University scientists, who along with Egyptian colleagues are the first to examine the structure and contents of the complex underground network built 2,500 years ago under the Saqqara desert. The catacomb, which lies ten to 12metres underground, consists of a long central corridor and a series of smaller passages that branch off it. Sampling of small areas and bone examination of their contents suggest that the entire network is home to eight million dogs, as well as a handful of cats and jackals. Some of the dogs were killed and mummified just days or even hours after birth. With the need to mummify so many animals, perhaps thousands per year, it is likely the animals were bred in puppy farms dotted around the ancient capital of Memphis.
