Sounds like raindrops falling into a bucket of water can be heard while climbing the colossal staircase of Mexico"s El Castillo pyramid suggesting that the Mayans may have used a form of "music" to try and communicate with their gods."Sit on the stepsof Mexico"s El Castillo pyramid in Chichen Itza and you may hear a confusing sound.

As other visitors climb the colossal staircase their footsteps begin to sound like raindrops falling into a bucket of water as they near the top. Were the Mayan temple builders trying to communicate with their gods?"

Researchers have discovered a large number of remains from what appear to be nearly three dozen human sacrifices at an Incan archeological site in Northern Peru, the victims would have died over 600 years ago."Researchers at an archeological site in northern Peru have made an unusually large discovery of nearly three dozen people sacrificed some 600 years ago by the Incan civilization.

The bodies, some of which show signs of having been cut along their necks and collarbones, were otherwise found in good condition, said Carlos Webster,who is leading excavations at the Chotuna-Chornancap camp."

A new theory proposed as a result of research conducted via satellite has suggested that the Maya could have been devastated by the culling of trees in their region which may have lowered rainfall by up to to 30 percent."What destroyed the ancient Mayan civilization that built sophisticated calendars and ruled the Yucatan peninsula for millennia? The answer may be as simple as they cut down the trees.
