The Discovery Channel and the Vatican join forces to produce a show about historical possessions.An upcoming cable program has resulted from the Discovery Channel and the Catholic Church associating to reconstruct cases of exorcism from the Vatican"s records. The series will pair reenactments and interviews withrarely-heard-from adept exorcists.

Though the first season will not feature the videotaping of actual, contemporary exorcisms, producers GoGo Luckey hope to move into "reality" territory if the series becomes a hit. The show is set to air in the spring - no specific date has been released. Bunting says the investigators believe a demon can inhabit an inanimate object (like a home) or a person. The network executive says he was initially skeptical when first meeting the team but was wonover after more than three hours of talks. “The work these folks do, and their conviction in their beliefs, make for fascinating stories,” Bunting says.

Due to an exorcist shortage Catholic bishops held a conference on how to conduct exorcisms.Cardinal Daniel DiNardo spoke at the two-day event that explored such topics as identifying whether someone is actually possessed, the scriptural basis of evil andthe rituals required in order to perform the exorcism.

Citing a shortage of priests who can perform the rite, the nation"s Roman Catholic bishops are holding a conference on how to conduct exorcisms.

Exorcists in Poland are gathering in Warsaw while cases of "Satanic possession" are on the rise.Over the last ten years the number of exorcists in Poland has risen from 30 to 100, the increase has been attributed to a growing skepticism of psychology and people looking for spiritualexplanations for mental illnesses.

Polish exorcists are gathering in Warsaw for their national congress confident in the knowledge that their numbers are increasing as more and more Poles struggle with Satanic possession.
