A police station in New Zealand is said to have been home to paranormal occurrences for over 20 years.Hornby station in Christchurch might seem like any ordinary police station, but for those who work there the place has been the subject of numerous paranormal mysteries. In the dead of night some officers have reported hearing strange footsteps upstairs, lights going on and off by themselves and the feeling of a"presence" that nobody can explain."If you"re in the station by yourself, strange things happen," said Senior Sergeant Pete Laloli who has run the station for two decades.

A village in Turkey has become the latest location deemed to be a haven from the Mayan apocalypse. With around 600 inhabitants, Sirince has seen an unexpected surge in visitors this winter thanks to the belief that it represents a safe haven in the event of a December 21st apocalypse. Located near the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, the village has enjoyed a tourism boom in recent weeks with over 60,000 people expected in the near future. Hotel owners are celebrating the increasein trade at a time of year when there is usually little interest in the region. The significance of the village pertains to the belief that it is near to the spot where the Virgin Mary ascended to Heaven and that it therefore possesses a strong positive vibe.

The interest is similar to that of the French mountain Pic de Bugarach which was closed to tourists following rumors that it would be the site of a rescue effort by an alien spacecraft on the eve of the apocalypse. A Turkish village has become the latest apocalypsehotspot, with believers of the Mayan calendar prediction that the world will end on December 21 flooding into the area.

Those travelling to Pic de Bugarach before December 21st will now be turned away by authorities. For many who believe that the world will end in about one month"s time, a hilltop in the southwest of France represents the last hope of salvation against the upcoming apocalypse. French authorities however have other ideas - concerns over the disruption caused by visitors to the region has resulted in officials actively banning anyone from going there."We are expecting a fewvisionaries, a few people who believe in this end of the world, but in extremely limited numbers," said state representative Eric Freysselinard.

"We are expecting greater numbers of people who are just curious, but in numbers we cannot determine. Above all, we are expecting lots of journalists."Some believe that the hilltop at Pic de Bugarach will be the site of a rescue effort by an alien race who will send craft to pick up all those who are there on the day before the end of the world. France on Friday dashed thehopes of those who had planned to take refuge in one of the few places on Earth some believe will be spared when the world ends on December 21.
