A British expert says a UFO crashed in the States in 1947 and there is “no doubt aliens were here”.Philip Mantle – editor of UFO Data Magazine – is unveiling his findings at an international conference this month. But he has given the Daily Star exclusive details. He investigated the site in New Mexico and has been analysing rock, earth and vegetation. The area is surrounded by charred trees and bushes and a mysterious blue bubbly substance dribbles down rocks. A top US scientist says high levels ofradiation point to a ship landing there in the 1940s.

In his extensive report, physician Dr Ronald Rau said: “Would I tag it a UFO? Probably.” The area in the Nogal Canyon is close to to the well-known Socorro desert site where experts say another object appeared to have landed in 1964. Philip explained: “A good friend of mine Ed Gerhman first found the site and I flew over as soon as I could. “It was a real find and as soon as I arrived there I knew what a special and peculiar place it was. There is nothing around it for around 70 miles, it is literally in the middle of nowhere. “Us Brits really have beatenthe Americans at their own game and it is really great that we have done that. It really is revolutionary for the UFO world.” Philip has been swamped with TV offers and will reveal the full findings at a conference in Leeds. Former MOD official Nick Pope said: “This looks to be a potentially very interesting and significant development.”

A fireman who worked at Roswell in 1947 has claimed that the mysterious crash that occured that year was indeed of alien origin. In an interview he said a Roswell Army Air Field Colonel came to the fire department and insisted that nobody was to speak about it, visit the site or respond to any questions pertaining to the incident." A firefighter who was with the Roswell Fire Department in 1947 has confirmed that the mysterious crash in the New Mexico desert that Summer was in fact of an unearthly craft! The firefighter, now age 90, related stunning information to this author in a lengthy interview conducted recently.

Jesse Marcel Jr., whose highly anticipated new book "The Roswell Legacy," is being released at the Roswell Festival this year. Col. Thank you for taking time to talk to usabout Roswell and your new book.

You will be speaking and on some panels at Roswell this year. One question or correction. I note in the past we had the title of your book as "Roswell: It Really Happened", but I see it advertised elsewhere now as "The Roswell Legacy". Has the book title been changed? Marcel: The book has evolved with time. As I was writing it, I realized that Legacy was more appropriate than what really happened. The title of the book is "The Roswell Legacy." Horn: This is the 60th anniversary. Does it feel that long ago to you? Marcel: It is hard to believe that 60 years have passed on the calendar. It seems like yesterday to me to use a cliché'.Horn: As the only man alive who the government admits handled material from the debris field in 1947, material your dadlet you and your mother see as he stopped off at home on his way back to the base, how did that night effect you. It changed the course of UFOlogy and put Roswell and your family on the map.Marcel: It was then that I realized that our civilization was not alone certainly in the galaxy and that we were in fact being visited by others more advanced because they could get here from where ever they come from. I took it to mean that we were being studied from a scientifically curious race just as we would be curious about other life forms on our planet.

In 1986, on his death bed, retired Major Jesse Marcel told his son; "You must tell the world the truth about Roswell. When the military no longer has a hold over you and your family, please set the record straight!"Major Jesse Marcel was the head of intelligence at an Army Air Field located at Roswell, [New Mexico]. On July 7, 1947 Major Marcel was sent to inspect what was being reported as the crash of an unidentified object on a ranch seventy-five miles northwest of the base. After inspecting the crash site, Marcel stopped by his home to show his family what he had discovered. Jesse Jr. was only eleven years old at the time, but vividlyremembers his father's excitement, and seeing and handling a foil-like material that his father said was scattered around the wreckage.

It was shiny and paper thin, but could not be torn or cut. It also retained a memory, mysteriously unfolding each time his father tried to fold it. And then there was that beam of metal several feet long, which was covered with hieroglyphic-type writing and markings. It was indeed something that was not of this world.Upon return to his Air base, Major Marcel's superior officer, Col. William "Butch" Blanchard, ordered him to fly the material to Wright Patterson Air Base in Akron, OH, first stopping in Fort Worth, TX to show the strange findings to Gen. Roger Ramey,,the head of the Eighth Air Force. When Ramey learned thatBlanchard had issued a press release stating they had recovered a "flying disc," and that it was being flown to Wright-Pat, Ramey was livid, and immediately called a press conference. Marcel would be photographed (see photo right) holding remnants of a weather balloon, and was forced to tell the media that these were his only findings at Roswell. From that time on, and despite dozens of collaborating witnesses at the crash site, Major Marcel was forced to live with that lie the rest of his life.
