The story of the "death" of the 20th-century philosopher, Alfred Jules (A. J.) Ayer, is becoming legendary. When the renowned atheist choked on a piece of salmon in 1988 in a British hospital, he went into cardiac arrest and technically died for four minutes. As a leader of the dominant analytic school of philosophy, Ayer had been accused of "neutralizing" Western academic philosophers; encouraging them to focus on pure logic and avoid applying their big minds to the actual art of living. And dying. But Ayer's near-death experience changed all that. After he was resuscitated in hospital, Ayer wrote a piece in the Telegraph newspaper describing wondrous images he had while "dead" -- of a beckoning red light and the collapse of space and time.

New research suggests that its possible to determine what someone is thinking by tracking their gaze.A study carried out at the University of Melbourne demonstrated the ability to determine what number someone was thinking of just by mappingthe person"s eye movements.

The eye really is the “window to your soul”, according to research that suggests it is possible to predict what people are thinking by tracking their gaze.

Prisons in the Netherlands are hiring psychics to help prisoners get in touch with their deceased loved ones.The move is aimed at providing guidance for jailed criminals. Messages from relatives beyond the grave are thought to be able to help the prisoners to "love themselves" claimed one clairvoyant. Paul van Bree, a self-styled "paragnost" or clairvoyant, has been hired by the Dutch prison service to teach prisoners how to "love themselves".

"I tell them that dead relatives are doing well and that they love them. That brings them peace. Big strong men burst into tears," he said.

A skeptic in India challenged Pandit Surender Sharma to kill him live on TV using his mystical powers.Millions of people tuned in to watch the events unfold as Sharma attempted for hours to kill the head of the Indian Rationalists’ Association however he was ultimatelyunsuccessful.

When a famous tantric guru boasted on television that he could kill another man using only his mystical powers, most viewers either gasped in awe or merely nodded unquestioningly. Sanal Edamaruku’s response was different. “Go on then — kill me,” he said.
